BBQT - Chapter 43

Chapter 43

“Xiao Yu, don’t make things difficult for her…”

Jian Yu was already on the verge of a breakdown. Now, Jian Qiu’s words were like a match lighting gunpowder; the anger he had been suppressing instantly erupted.

“Shut up! Is there any need for you to butt in? Jian Qiu, you know full well what your intentions are. You deliberately bought the manor next door and deliberately got close to Ali—deliberately got close to Qiu Chi. You’re trying to use her to get to me, aren’t you?”

“If you want to come after me, then come at me directly. Don’t drag her into this. Don’t tell me you didn’t know this was my manor. Don’t tell me you’ve never seen what she looks like!”

The woman had followed them by this point, but she stood far away, not daring to approach.

Jian Qiu noticed the woman, glanced at her, then looked away. He spoke to Jian Yu in a gentle voice, “You’ve misunderstood me, Xiao Yu. I have no intention of going against you, nor do I plan to use Qiu Chi to do so.”

“I truly didn’t know this was your manor. I have seen a photo of Alice, but a photo is different from the real person. I just didn’t make the connection at the time.”

Jian Qiu’s gentle voice was a stark contrast to the furious Jian Yu. A normal person would naturally find Jian Qiu more approachable.

The woman behind them thought so, and so did Qiu Chi and the System.

Of course, Alice wasn’t exactly a normal person.

But while they all thought this, no one said it out loud.

Jian Yu, naturally, wouldn’t be so quick to believe Jian Qiu’s lies. “Heh, you think I’ll believe that? Jian Qiu, you’d better stay far away from her. I don’t want to see you near her again, understand?”

This time, Jian Qiu didn’t reply immediately. He glanced hesitantly at Qiu Chi, then shook his head. “Xiao Yu, don’t you think you’re being too unreasonable? Qiu Chi and I are already friends. I can’t agree to your demand.”

“Friends? Heh!” Jian Yu sneered. “You really are something else. You want to snatch away everything that’s mine, don’t you? But she is mine. As long as I’m not dead, she will always be mine. And you can only dream on!”

After speaking, Jian Yu reached out to pull Qiu Chi away, but she sidestepped his hand.

Jian Yu’s hand clenched into a fist. He retracted it and lowered his gaze. “He’s Jian Qiu. You know who Jian Qiu is. So come back with me, okay?”

In his humble and pleading state, Jian Yu did look somewhat pitiful.

Although Qiu Chi still felt nothing, she had a plot to follow.

So, after a final glance at Jian Qiu, she turned and left.

Jian Yu shot a triumphant look at Jian Qiu before quickly chasing after her, completely ignoring the woman who had followed them.

Jian Qiu remained where he was, not leaving right away. He watched their retreating figures, his eyes filled with an unreadable expression.

The woman had only ever met Jian Qiu’s assistant, so she didn’t know he was the one who had paid her to get close to Jian Yu. She hesitated for a moment, wanting to follow them.

But Jian Qiu called out to her. “Wait.”

The woman’s steps halted, and her body trembled involuntarily—an aftereffect of the fear Jian Yu had instilled in her.

Jian Qiu commanded in a gentle voice, “Come here. I have a few questions for you.”

The woman didn’t turn around. Instead, she stood frozen and said, “I… I can’t tell you…”

What Jian Yu had just done had terrified her. She was genuinely afraid he would kill her.

Right now, what she wanted most was to get away from Jian Yu, to leave this place. She didn’t want the money anymore, and she didn’t want to get close to Jian Yu ever again. It was too scary, simply too terrifying.

With that thought, the woman scrambled away in a disheveled and pathetic manner.

Jian Qiu watched her retreating back and raised an eyebrow. What happened? How did she end up in this state?

After they left, Jian Qiu didn’t linger and went back as well.

Jian Yu wanted to say something more to Qiu Chi, but she wasn’t in the mood to listen.

“I’m going to continue reading. If you have nothing else, you can leave.”

Jian Yu pressed his lips together. “Stay away from Jian Qiu from now on. He’s not a good person.”

Qiu Chi gave a cold “Mm.”

Jian Yu had intended to leave, but he lifted his foot only to pause again. His voice was hoarse. “Are you really not my Alice anymore?”

Qiu Chi replied with cold finality, “I’m not.”

“Then… can she still come back?”

Qiu Chi turned a page. “I believe we’ve discussed this question before. What’s the point in asking again?”

In the end, Jian Yu left, looking as if he were fleeing in defeat. Before he went, he didn’t forget to close the study door.

After he was gone, the System couldn’t help but speak up. 【He looks a little pitiful like that, but he’s really such a scumbag!】

Qiu Chi ignored it. The System continued, 【Don’t you get bored reading all day? What have you even learned from just looking at books?】

“Do I need to report to you? Shut up if you don’t want to be muted.”

That one sentence successfully shut down the chatty System. But it was still indignant, so it went to chat with its little friends instead.

After leaving the study, Jian Yu’s pace slowed. He went downstairs and saw the woman sitting there obediently.

The woman immediately stood up when she saw him, her head bowed, not daring to meet his eyes.

Jian Yu walked over and sat down, then asked, “Did he stop you just now?”

“He… he did. But I didn’t tell him anything. Young Master Jian, I’m begging you, please let me go. I really know I was wrong.”

“I’ll tell you everything. Someone paid me to get close to you. I… I originally only had a slight resemblance to your… your robot. They’re the ones who made me look like this so I could approach you.”

Jian Yu wasn’t surprised. He even knew who had sent the woman to him.

He spoke, his voice cold, “What were you supposed to do by getting close to me?”

The woman shook her head. “He didn’t say. He only told me to get close to you, to do whatever it takes to make you keep me by your side, and preferably… preferably make you fall in love with me…”

As she spoke, her voice grew quieter.

Jian Yu let out a soft laugh, his words dripping with sarcasm. “Keep you by my side and make me fall in love with you? Where on earth did you get that confidence?”

“It was my fault. I know I was wrong. Young Master Jian, I’m begging you, please let me go. I’ve really told you everything.”

Jian Yu was silent for a long while before he finally spoke, his voice a bit raspy. “Get lost.”

His words were like an imperial edict. The moment the woman heard them, she scrambled out of the house as if a wolf were chasing her from behind.

Jian Yu, however, was lost in thought.

His Alice was gone. So why was he still keeping Qiu Chi, who dared to raise a hand against him?

Perhaps it was because her face and her body were Alice’s.

But why was Alice gone?

An idea suddenly struck him. Jian Yu stood up abruptly, returned to his room, and began searching on his computer.
