Chapter 87
Since she’d figured it out, Qiu Chi naturally didn’t hold back.
For the sects and families that didn't have any Shangguan manuals, Qiu Chi simply flipped through their secret texts, memorized them, and put them right back.
But for those that did possess Shangguan family manuals, Qiu Chi emptied their entire library pavilions, regardless of whether the books were useful or not.
Don't ask how one person could carry so much.
At first, she had been a little troubled, wondering how to carry everything away. Then, she discovered that the manual in her hand had vanished, only to reappear with a single thought.
Qiu Chi raised an eyebrow, not particularly surprised, and proceeded to empty them out without hesitation.
She also paid a visit to their storehouses and emptied out their assets.
Qiu Chi wasn't the least bit worried they would starve.
After all, these sects and families all had other sources of income.
In the two sects and three families Qiu Chi visited, nothing could escape her consciousness, no matter how deeply it was hidden. She did uncover quite a few private matters, but for now, she was just there to fleece the sheep.
Although there were guards on patrol at night, they wouldn't enter the storehouses so late. There were a few people in the libraries, but Qiu Chi knocked them all unconscious.
Once she had more or less emptied out the five sects and families possessing Shangguan manuals, Qiu Chi dusted off her hands and left.
It took her three days to empty two sects and three families.
In those three days, they hadn't even had time to raise their guard, and Qiu Chi was already on her way back.
The Jianghu was vast, but the male and female leads were bound by an ill-fated connection.
On her way back, Qiu Chi slowed her pace, occasionally stopping at taverns in various cities to listen for any news about the families and sects she had plundered.
Then one day, as she was dining in a tavern and listening for news, a group of people walked in. One of the leaders was none other than Lou Yu.
Beside Lou Yu was a young woman in blue robes. Her eyes were filled with affection as she looked at him, and she spoke gently, "Brother Lou, you're still injured. It would be better to eat something light."
With a cold expression, Lou Yu ignored her. He glanced around, and his gaze fixed on a particular spot.
The young woman followed his gaze and couldn't help but let out a small gasp. "Shangguan Yue?!"
Qiu Chi didn't spare them a single glance.
The young woman, however, had already hurried over to Qiu Chi. Upon seeing her face clearly, she said with excitement, "Yue'er, it's really you! I thought you had died at the hands of the Demon Sect..."
"Ah, I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that. Yue'er, since you're alright, come back to the Lu family with me. We'll be sure to take good care of you. Right, Brother Lou?"
It had to be said, Lu Yuan's acting was superb, from her surprise at seeing Qiu Chi to the excited joy in her voice.
But under the scrutiny of Qiu Chi's consciousness, her initial reaction upon seeing Qiu Chi couldn't escape detection, no matter how quickly she concealed it.
Especially since Qiu Chi had found Shangguan family manuals at the Lu Villa.
Qiu Chi unhurriedly finished the last bite of food on her plate. Only then did she look up at Lou Yu, who stood motionless to the side with his gaze fixed on her. A faint smile touched her lips. "It's only been half a month, and we meet again. Tell me, is this your fortune or your misfortune?"
Being ignored, Lu Yuan felt a flicker of displeasure, but she didn't let it show on her face. Instead, she asked with a puzzled expression, "Yue'er, what do you mean? Did you meet Brother Lou half a month ago?"
Qiu Chi still ignored Lu Yuan.
She stood up and, as she passed Lou Yu, tossed out a command: "Come out."
Having been ignored by Qiu Chi twice, Lu Yuan inwardly wished she could slice her into a thousand pieces. Outwardly, however, she just bit her lower lip and looked at Lou Yu with a wronged expression. "Brother Lou, is she blaming me? I suppose she should. The Shangguan family suffered such a disaster, and I couldn't help in the slightest..."
Before she could finish, Lou Yu, whose gaze had been following Qiu Chi, walked right out after her.
At this, even with her superb acting, Lu Yuan's expression couldn't help but crack for an instant. She immediately composed herself, called out to the people from the villa who had accompanied her, and hurried after them.
