Chapter 54: Danger
Song Hemei felt as though she were hallucinating.
She looked up in shock, only to see Yu Yeqing sitting on the edge of the bed, his long legs loosely bent and stretched out. Because he had propped his hand on the mattress, she could see his narrow waist cinched by the leather belt.
He said it so casually, as if it were the simplest, most ordinary thing in the world, without even a flicker of emotion in his expression.
His dark eyes looked toward her, holding neither the resentment and mockery she had expected, nor lust or urgency. Instead, they made the brief surge of agitation in her heart when she first heard his words seem entirely superfluous.
What did he mean?
Did he not believe she would make amends, and was trying to make her back down?
She was silent for so long that Yu Yeqing's voice reached her ears again: "Isn't the Second Miss here to apologize?"
His tone was unhurried: "Do you need me to say it a second time? Come here and kiss me."
Song Hemei lowered her eyes slightly, certain he was doing this on purpose.
He even remembered the words she had spoken before, digging them up at a time like this.
Did he think she wouldn't dare? Or was he trying to humiliate her with this method?
Song Hemei swallowed. When she looked up at him again, there was a bit more resolve in her gaze.
Since that incident had started because of her, and he had suffered at her brother's hands because of it, it was only natural for him to want to vent his grievances. This was nothing major, after all—she could accept it.
Yet even thinking this way, she still instinctively tensed up from inexplicable nervousness, feeling as though every step she took toward him under his gaze was heavy.
Until she stood before him, her shadow climbing up his body bit by bit, covering half of him. She began to feel breathless, hurriedly averting her eyes from his, shifting her gaze only to his thin lips.
Summoning the last of her courage, Song Hemei leaned down inch by inch. But just as she was about to make contact, Yu Yeqing leaned back slightly, putting distance between them.
She felt her mind go blank. What did he mean by this?
But before she could ask, Yu Yeqing suddenly spoke: "Willing?"
Song Hemei was a little speechless. She had already bent down and leaned in—what else could it be?
Already at this point, she simply leaned in closer, propping her hand on the bed, and affirmed: "Willing."
As she lowered herself again, she realized he was repeating the trick. Just as she was about to touch him, he pulled back half an inch again, saying faintly: "Couldn't push me away?"
Song Hemei couldn't immediately grasp his meaning. After a pause, she understood—he was clearly bringing up old scores.
She gritted her teeth, now certain he was using these things to humiliate her.
That morning before they left, she had just denied last night's intimacy, claiming it was only because she couldn't push him away. Now he was asking this—what else was it if not humiliation?
She gave up on saving face: "Fine, I can push you away! Happy now?!"
She was about to lean in again, but this time she spoke first: "If you dodge again, then forget it. I'll just go back and call my elder brother to take my place. It's the same whether one of us apologizes or the other. He'd definitely be happy if you dodged."
Yu Yeqing's eyelashes trembled almost imperceptibly. Before he could react, she closed her eyes and rushed straight in.
The first contact was rough with anger, a brief touch then separation. But immediately she pressed back, softly brushing against his lips. His lips parted as a matter of course, and their tongues touched unavoidably.
In the entanglement and pressure, even though she was leading, her movements very light and gentle, she still felt numbness starting from the root of her tongue, spreading little by little through her body. As she pressed down further, she could barely stand.
One hand braced by his waist, her originally clear thoughts were completely disrupted by the sensation on her lips. Unnoticed, her other hand, which had been clutching her skirt, was covered by a warm palm. The next moment, her waist was tightly gripped, and she fell into his embrace, pulling him down so that he lay flat on the bed.
This sudden movement parted their lips unexpectedly. As their eyes met, she was still dazed and said instinctively: "I didn't mean to."
Yu Yeqing's Adam's apple bobbed: "I know."
Such a situation was clearly wrong—everything felt out of order.
Song Hemei felt it wasn't appropriate to panic, but lying on top of him seemed even more inappropriate.
But before she could think of a way out, the world spun around her. When she realized what had happened, her back was already against the bed.
Yu Yeqing hovered over her, a lock of his dark hair falling, lightly brushing her neck.
Logically, it should have tickled—her neck was very sensitive to such things. But now her body was too stiff to feel anything on her neck.
Because of this reversal of positions, her legs had somehow become separated, each side pressed against his.
Bad. This situation was very bad.
But Yu Yeqing seemed oblivious. His long fingers swept aside the fallen hair, then he lowered himself again, capturing her lips.
His breath invaded domineeringly, the entanglement of lips and teeth fiercer. Song Hemei felt her throat go dry, her breath stolen. She had to tilt her neck back, as if offering herself up.
But they were too close. The slightest movement made her feel the friction against his chest.
Her hands had no place to rest. They pressed against his shoulders, but she was afraid he would again bring up this matter of pushing or not pushing. Yet if she removed them, she felt completely exposed before him, allowing him to do as he pleased.
Who knows how long passed before her lips were finally released. Now she didn't care about anything else; she gasped for air, her body lightly colliding with his chest with each breath.
Her vision was blurry. When she finally saw his deep eyes clearly, she became aware of something else.
Their lower abdomens were pressed together, and a certain danger had arrived at the city gates. Because of the thinness of summer clothing, her perception was especially acute.
Song Hemei's whole body stiffened. She didn't dare move at all. Instinctively, she tried to draw her legs together, but in their confined space, the action seemed to draw him even closer.
At that very moment, Yu Yeqing spoke, his voice unbearably hoarse: "What kind of compensation did you mean?"
She only heard a ringing in her ears.
Before she had spoken of making amends, she never imagined it would come to this.
He paused, not continuing, as if giving her time to consider. If what he wanted was something other than money, would she still be so ready to promise reparation?
But her chaotic mind could no longer support careful thought.
Yu Yeqing's hand rested on the top of her head, the other gripping her waist as if to prevent her from running. In the silence, the hand on her waist tightened slightly.
He asked in a low voice: "Why aren't you saying anything?"
Song Hemei watched the light outside fall on Yu Yeqing, making her blink involuntarily.
Now she had only one thought.
"Can we wait a moment? The door isn't closed yet…"
If someone were to come in and see this, she would have no face left at all!
