Chapter 237: Does It Still Count?
"With such little scheming, how can you be the future mother of the nation?" The Crown Prince, expressionless, patted his own thigh, signaling her to come and sit. "Beg me, and I'll tell you the truth."
Showing weakness wouldn't cost her a piece of flesh!
Sun Jiaojiao went with the flow, acting coy as she sat on the Crown Prince's lap, pleading, "Your Highness, please, please tell me~"
The Crown Prince's hot breath fanned her ear, making her itch. "Leaving Eighth Brother in the imperial family would inevitably be a scourge. It's better to let him stay in a place that suits him."
"It really was Your Highness?" Sun Jiaojiao shrieked, her imagination immediately running wild. "Where did Your Highness leave that annoying Eighth Prince? The underworld?"
"Not that far. After all, we are brothers. I just left him in A'xi'er's hands to suffer a bit. But remember, from now on, there is no such person as the Eighth Prince in this world."
"Your Highness isn't afraid Jiaojiao will blab? You just said such a huge thing like it was a joke..."
"If you dare blab, I'll disfigure your face and send you to join the Eighth Prince in his suffering."
The Crown Prince's casual teasing scared Sun Jiaojiao into sticking her tongue out. "Jiaojiao would never say anything!"
Who knew what kind of inhuman suffering the Eighth Prince was enduring in a remote place like the Western Turkic lands?
However, the whole sequence of events was too strange. Why would a dissolute prince like the Eighth Prince suddenly have the idea to lead troops into battle? It wasn't surprising that the Crown Prince could strike at the Eighth Prince in the Western Regions; after all, the army was full of his men. But A'xi'er had clearly just returned, so how could he cooperate so seamlessly with the Crown Prince to secretly hide the Eighth Prince? Wasn't the Crown Prince afraid that with the Eighth Prince in A'xi'er's hands, A'xi'er might one day turn on him and expose the matter? Sun Jiaojiao wanted to ask the Crown Prince many "whys," but after thinking it over, she swallowed them all back down.
Forget it, forget it. Knowing too many secrets will definitely get one killed!
Sun Jiaojiao just wanted to be a leisurely Crown Princess; she didn't want to live a life as tiring as the Imperial Consort's. She sat on the Crown Prince's lap, joking and laughing for a bit, then hugged and coaxed the Crown Prince into a kiss. In no time, she had aroused the Crown Prince until he was hard and firm. He carried her into the room and "loved" her fiercely before letting her go.
With the Eighth Prince no longer in the capital frightening people, the ladies and noblewomen of various houses began to socialize more frequently. Even the palace held several flower-viewing banquets after the Eighth Prince's grand funeral. Everyone was happy, except for the Imperial Consort. Sun Jiaojiao no longer feared that lecherous Eighth Prince and happily joined in the fun, attending two gatherings in the capital.
This day, Sun Jiaojiao had just walked out of an official's residence. She had barely settled into her sedan chair when a pair of strong, large hands covered her mouth.
Sun Jiaojiao screamed in terror, but not a sound could escape.
"Don't be afraid, it's me." The voice from behind her was so familiar, yet Sun Jiaojiao couldn't quite place who it was. "I won't hurt you."
Once she relaxed and stopped screaming, the hands were released.
Sun Jiaojiao turned her head and saw the Jade-Faced Swordsman's chiseled, jade-like face. She cried out in surprise, "Why is it you?"
Long time no see. What was this guy doing in her sedan chair?
His master, the Eighth Prince, was dead... Sun Jiaojiao suddenly trembled-he wasn't here for revenge, was he?
"I also heard about your master's... matter. It's very sad. You have my condolences..." Sun Jiaojiao's eyes darted around as she tried to bluff the Jade-Faced Swordsman, pretending to be completely ignorant.
"He wasn't my master."
"Ah ha?" Sun Jiaojiao was taken aback. If not his master, what was he? His father?
"We just had an employment relationship. Eighth Master is dead, so I have to find a new employer."
If he had to say what was sad about the Eighth Prince's death, it was probably just being sad that he wouldn't have that big spender to earn so much silver from anymore.
The Jade-Faced Swordsman's throat bobbed, and he managed to ask with difficulty, "Last time, you mentioned hiring me for double the pay. Does that still count?"
